Natwest Pay Up !!

Yes that's right...I got money out of a bank !!

I got a letter today...it looks like a standard reply. They don't believe the charges are unfair, the rules are all laid out in their guidelines etc etc... A full A4 page of gumph
Then on the next page ...as a gesture of goodwill, we will refund £833 into your account.

£833.... a gesture of goodwill !!!

That's the full total of all the charges I've had over the last 6 years.

As far as I can see its a full admission by Natwest that they haven't got a leg to stand on. Its true I could decline this and take them to court to get the extra interest, but to be honest asking for that was just a bargaining tool, and I'm completely satisfied with getting he money back. At the end of the day all it took was two letters, and I get £833.

What a result !!

Nice one! What a result! I've been thinking about doing the same, but I've heard that some banks are making people go to court then pulling out at the last minute, and others are paying up but then asking the customers to take their business elsewhere. Given my large overdraft, I can't afford to go elsewhere right now, so I've chickened out.

What fantastic news!

Well done. That's one big step to sorting out the million.

hehe, I'm more or less in the same boat as you, I got a letter last week saying they would pay £750 into my account - which they now have - as a gesture of good will.

Not bad, but I will be taking it further considering there is another £3678 to go!
